Classic two-stage hepatectomy (TSH) and more recently associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) are getting reported more often as feasibility, safety and oncological efficiency have been demonstrated in selected cases. Herein we review the available literature in the field of laparoscopic liver resections in two stages with a focus on the management of colorectal liver metastases (CRLMs).
