Dr. Pradeep Chowbey, Padmashri, is Executive Vice-Chairman of Max Healthcare and Chairman of Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Saket, New Delhi (India). He is Honorary Surgeon to The President of India, Honorary Surgeon to Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) and Surgeon to His Holiness The Dalai Lama. 

Dr. Pradeep Chowbey is a Founding designee in the International Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery Program by Surgical Review Corporation, USA. He served as President(s) of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), Asia Pacific Chapter of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), Asia Pacific Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Society (APMBSS), Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS) and Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI), Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgurons (IAGES). Dr. Chowbey in association with his team in the Institute performed more than 70,000 Minimal access surgeries from 1990 to 2015 and features in Limca Book of Records in consecutive editions 2000 – 2016. He had the honor of operating His Holiness The Dalai Lama in October 2008, President of India Shri K R Narayanan in March 2001 and Spouses and other family members of the Former Presidents of India. He has unique honor of serving four Presidents of India as Honorary Surgeon. 

Dr. Chowbey with the core-group of experts from all over the World, formulated guidelines and recommendations for minimal access surgery, endoscopic hernia surgery and obesity in India. The Max Institute of MAMBS is being accredited as a First International Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery, Hernia Surgery and Gynaecology Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), USA, and Centre of Excellence in Endohernia by the Asia Pacific Hernia Society under the leadership of Dr. Chowbey.
