Dr. Stavros A. Antoniou was born in Athens, Greece. He received his undergraduate degree in Thessaloniki, Greece and postgraduate clinical and research training in Germany and in Greece. He holds a PhD in minimally invasive surgery, a Master Degree in Public Health and Health Business Administration and he is Fellow of the European Board of Surgery. His scholarly work is focused on synthesis of evidence (meta-analysis, meta-regression, trial sequential analysis, network meta-analysis) and he has performed extensive research on the quality of scholarly work. He has a track record of over 120 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has served as head or member of several guidelines development groups and is associate editor and member of the editorial board of numerous peer-reviewed journals. He is member of the Research Committee of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES). He is currently clinical and research fellow at the Department of Surgery at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.
