Secrets for successful laparoscopic antireflux surgery: surgical technique

Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication is an effective surgical treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, as a “creative” operation (rather than, for example, a destructive operation involving excision of an organ), the efficacy of surgery is directly and closely linked to the skill and experience of the surgeon. As a part of the special issue, “Secrets for Successful Laparoscopic Antireflux Surgery”, we detail here technical surgical principles we have found essential for successful completion of this operation in our experience.
