Complete bursectomy in totally laparoscopic total gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection for advanced gastric cancer
Abstract
Background: Survival benefit of bursectomy is reported in patients with resectable gastric cancer. And it would be feasible and safe in complete bursectomy in totally laparoscopic total gastrectomy (TLTG) with D2 lymph node dissection for advanced gastric cancer (AGC).
Methods: A 41-year-old man who was diagnosed as gastric cancer, underwent TLTG with D2 lymph node dissection and Roux-en-Y reconstruction. Moreover we share the experience of complete bursectomy based on membrane anatomy.
Results: The operation time was 260 min with bleeding of about 50 mL. There were no intraoperative and postoperative complications happened. And the patient discharged from hospital on the 7th day.
Conclusions: Complete bursectomy in TLTG with intracorporeal Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy is a safe and feasible surgical method with minimal invasiveness.
